Alan Lomax

He's been known to many as the greatest song collector of the 20th century. Lomax has recorded in the field and studios across the world. He's recorded well known artists such as Woody Guthrie (who he is pictured with above), Lead Belly, Muddy Waters and thousands of unknown folk artists. There are tons of his collections out there that are highly recommended. He is certainly one of the most important figures in musical history.
